Master in International Finance (MIF)

After completing my bachelors' degree in Greece, I moved to Amsterdam with prospect to attain international experience. I started working at Volkswagen International Finance, the financial services part of the VW group and decided that a master's degree would be helpful in order to apply the theoretical knowledge into real life situations.
I chose the ABS and Amsterdam MIF for two reasons: First, compared to other finance masters, the Amsterdam MIF has a very good ranking in Europe. Second, my sister, Katerina, completed the same degree four years ago and she recommended the programme.
Courses
Overall, the courses were very interesting and helped me acquire a more complete picture of the various fields in the financial world. The classes were interactive and the level is advanced. Numerous assignments are a major part of each course, enabling you to apply the theory in practical case studies.
International Environment
MIF students come from different parts of the world and it is really interesting to work and interact with people with an international background. They were open to sharing their different cultures and ideas and to listen to your views as well.
The professors also have an international background and in-depth knowledge and expertise in their particular financial field. It was really constructive that most of them linked the theory to real life examples. They were always willing to help us and answer our questions. The MIF met my expectations and I am confident that it was a good investment for my future career development.
I expect better career opportunities after completing the MIF. With broader knowledge of finance, I will be able to take on more responsibilities and deal with new challenges.
I will stay in touch with most of my fellow students after completing the MIF. The time we spent together during the classes, the group assignments and with the trip to South Africa brought us all closer. It is nice to know that you will have friends all over the world who shared the same experiences!
