MBA alumni survey

Published 14 October 2009

Almost half of our alumni responded to a recent survey. The respondents graduated between 2006 and 2008, 23% of them are part-time students and 35% are women.

Feedback

In general the feedback is very positive. Around 90% of the alumni are pleased or very pleased with the content, the level of teaching and the interaction with fellow students. In terms of career enhancement, 80% indicated that the Amsterdam MBA has been helpful or very helpful. According to 70% of the respondents, the city Amsterdam adds value to the MBA. About 80% of the alumni would have no hesitation in recommending the MBA to friends, family or colleagues. Finally, almost all alumni found the MBA an enjoyable experience.

Employment

We also asked specific questions about employment before and after the alumni attended the MBA. 85% of the respondents had found employment by the time they completed the programme or within 3 months, and the other 15% found employment within 6 months. The average post-MBA salary increased with 132% compared to pre-MBA levels.

Region of employment

The other aspect that is of interest is the change in region of origin to region of employment. Before starting with the Amsterdam MBA 69% of our alumni lived and worked outside the Netherlands and the European Union. The results of the survey show that after graduation only a small number return immediately to their country of origin, because 77% of our alumni work and live in the EU (including the Netherlands).

Industry

Given the fact that The Amsterdam MBA is delivered in a major financial centre, it is not surprising that 52% of our alumni work in financial services and 16% in consultancy. The other alumni work in a wide variety of industries, such as manufacturing, technology, advertising, entertainment, IT, food & beverages etc. Among the employers are: Logica, Morgan Stanley, Tata Consultancy Services, ABN Amro, Fortis, Corus, Optiver, Deloitte, PA Consulting, Raffeisen Investment, Bank of Scotland, Grupo Santander, Phi Delphi Corporate Finance, and IBM.

All in all we are very pleased with the results of the first MBA survey. However,to avoid complacency, we will continue to improve the programme. It is satisfying to see that in general, our customers are satisfied with the programme.
