Accounting
The Accounting section of the Amsterdam Business School is involved in research and teaching of a broad range of areas within accounting: financial accounting, management accounting, accountability and sustainability, internal control, auditing, and accounting information systems. Its staff members teach in bachelor, master and execucitive programmes, and publish in international top-journals as well as professional outlets. The section is diverse in both its nationalities and its research methodologies.
Staff members have recent and forthcoming publications in international accounting journals such as The Accounting Review, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting and Business Research, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, and Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, as well as in journals from adjacent research fields, such as Journal of Business Ethics, International Business Review, and British Journal of Management.
International recognition for the research quality of the section includes best paper awards (Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, British Accounting Review), highly cited papers (Accounting, Organizations and Society), as well as industry recognition (French Social Investment Forum best paper award).
The section is responsible for the track Accountancy & Control in the BSc Economics and Business, and offers its own master programme, the MSc Accountancy & Control. In 2010-2011, this programme had an intake of some 150 students, of which 40 were non-Dutch, and another 40 were enrolled in the Dutch-language part-time programme for working young professionals. Additionally, the section is involved in teaching for the post-master RA-programme (the Dutch CPA-qualification), as well as in executive programmes such as MBA, MIF, EMFC and EMIA.
