The Accounting Section education range consists of various programmes, taught in Dutch and in English.

BSc Economie en Bedrijfskunde, variant Accountancy & Control (Dutch taught programme)

The Accountancy & Control Bachelor is a variant in the Dutch taught Bachelor in Economics and Business.  

Als je kiest voor de Bachelor Economie en Bedrijfskunde, dan heb je de keuze uit veel specialisaties, maar ook met een brede interesse kun je er terecht. Het eerste jaar van de bachelors Economie en Bedrijfskunde en Fiscale economie is gemeenschappelijk. In het tweede jaar kun je kiezen uit drie studierichtingen, waarbinnen verschillende varianten mogelijk zijn. De variant Accountancy & Control is er daar een van.

MSc Accountancy & Control (English taught programme)

The MSc Accountancy & Control is completely taught in English, and is very intensive and selective, ensuring a high standard of education. The one-year programme has a strong international focus and the composition of the academic staff and student population is very international.

The MSc Accountancy & Control has two tracks, one in Accountancy and one in Control.

Accountancy

The Accountancy track is designed for Business Economics students seeking a career in the financial sector. It is suitable for students with a general and analytical interest in financial information flows from and within organisations and who want to be able to satisfy the information needs of senior managers and other stakeholders, both internal and external. Combining academic rigour with practical examples and applications, this track provides admission to the UvA Post-Master's Accountancy (PMA) programme, at the end of which students qualify as chartered accountants (taught in Dutch).

Control

This track focuses on the role of accounting information in the financial management of organisations. How can financial and non-financial information be used to influence the decision making of managers and employees? The courses in this track aim to combine academic rigour and practical relevance. Therefore, they provide a multidisciplinary perspective, integrating insights from economics, psychology and organisation theory. Consequently, graduates have a unique knowledge base that consists of specialised knowledge in the fields of finance and accounting and a thorough understanding of how accounting information can be used to manage real-world organisations. The track provides admission to the UvA Executive Master of Finance and Control (EMFC) program (taught in Dutch). MSc Control graduates with at least two years of work experience may also consider entering the international Executive Master of Finance and Control (iEMFC) program (taught in English, admission restrictions apply).

Fiscal Economics

The Fiscal Economics programmes are taught in Dutch at the Faculty of Economics and Business, in close cooperation with the UvA Law Faculty.

BSc Fiscale Economie (Dutch taught programme)

Om de ingewikkelde fiscale vragen aan te kunnen, biedt de bachelor Fiscale economie aan de UvA een breed scala aan vakken. Als student Fiscale economie moet je fiscale vraagstukken niet alleen op een economische, maar ook op een juridische manier kunnen benaderen. Daarom volg je bedrijfseconomische, algemeen economische én juridische vakken. Bijzonder zijn de integratievakken, waar je leert de economische en juridische aspecten van de belastingen met elkaar in verband te brengen. De fiscale vakken volg je samen met de fiscaal juristen aan de Faculteit der Rechtsgeleerdheid, de bedrijfseconomische vakken volg je samen met de studenten Economie en bedrijfskunde aan de Faculteit Economie en Bedrijfskunde.

Als afgestudeerd fiscaal econoom ben je breed opgeleid en inzetbaar als belasting-consulent, belastinginspecteur of bedrijfsfiscalist. Je kunt de uiteenlopende vraagstukken over belastingen, hun economische betekenis en de juridische inbedding daarvan oplossen. Wie weet adviseer jij de minister van Financiën bij de invoering van nieuwe belastingmaatregelen, of de Oost-Europese landen bij de vormgeving van hun belastingstelsel.

MSc Fiscale Economie (Dutch taught programme)

De eenjarige master Fiscale economie biedt een geïntegreerde combinatie van fiscaal-rechtelijke én fiscaal-economische vakken, die de student opleidt tot een all-round fiscalist. Het zwaartepunt van de opleiding ligt bij het bestuderen van belastingrecht vanuit een economisch perspectief. De opleiding bewerktstelligt dit door het bieden van kennis en inzicht gericht op zowel de nationale als de internationale economische situatie en opvattingen.

Binnen de MSc Fiscale Economie bestaan twee varianten:

- variant Fiscale economie
- variant Tax Compliance

In de (duale) Tax Compliance-variant hebben studenten de mogelijkheid om door middel van een verlengde studieduur twee werkperioden in hun opleiding op te nemen.
